Take a Look Around at the Colorful New Pilo’s Tequila Garden

The eatery’s second outpost in Wynwood will feature counter-service Mexican cuisine and a focused on the city’s special needs community

heThe second outpost of Pilo’s Street Tacos — dubbed Pilo’s Tequila Garden (158 NW 24th Street) — is debuting in Wynwood this Friday, February 26, with a 5,500-square-foot indoor and outdoor restaurant that will serve up Mexican food, street tacos, late-night bites, and plenty of cocktails in its large outdoor “tequila garden.”

Upon entering Pilo’s Tequila Garden, guests are greeted with high ceilings and a massive chandelier art installation made with 1,200 pieces of dyed rope and weighing 2,000 pounds. The indoor altar-style bar features Mexican sculptures and a gallery of paintings on display by local and international artists Giuseppe Ferlito, Jordi Molla, Domingo Zapata, Vic Garcia, and Mariela Nunez that are available for purchase. A donation of all art sales will benefit Gigi’s Playhouse.

Outside in the tequila garden, it boasts two bars, a retractable roof, VIP booths, stadium seating, and a DJ booth perched inside Wynwood’s only treehouse. Colorful hand painted murals from artists Senkoe and Vic Garcia cover the walls, which are meant to be reminiscent of the streets of Mexico City.

The menu is similar to its Brickell location serving up lunch, dinner, and late night bites daily. On the menu are items like cheese chicharrons, tacos filled with items like al pastor, beer-battered fish, or mushrooms, along with burritos, quesadillas, along with a large tequila, mezcal, and cocktail list. Guests can order from counter service or sit at a table for full service.

Owned and founded by restaurateur Derek Gonzalez, Pilo’s Street Tacos is committed to have at least 20 percent of the staff hired at the restaurant to be individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — which Pilo’s calls “special abilities” — working alongside Gigi’s Playhouse, Best Buddies and Our Pride Academy to employ these individuals.

Pilo’s Tequila Garden will be open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight beginning February 26. For more information visit here.
